Voices of Utah

Voices of Utah is an award-winning student journalism project designed to tell the stories of Utah's minority communities. As a reporter on the Pacific Islander beat, I wrote stories on linguistic and cultural preservation efforts, the cultural function served by Pacific Island music and dance, and It Takes a Village, a community-oriented public health program designed to improve birth outcomes in Utah's Pacific Islander communities.

Salt Lake City Weekly

My stories for City Weekly include a profile of KUER's Steve "Daddy-O" Williams, an op-ed on the supreme court's marriage equality decision and a cover story on the cultural and medical history of circumcision.

The Deseret News

As a news desk intern at The Deseret News, I was responsible for pitching and publishing at least five stories per week. My content included event coverage, profiles, breaking news reports and the police beat.​

The Daily Utah Chronicle

As a news reporter for The Daily Utah Chronicle, I wrote 2-4 news stories per week on campus and community happenings at the University of Utah. I've also written editorials for the Chronicle's opinion section on topics ranging from the national It's On Us campaign to campus parking politics.
